Story behind the artwork

Family Portrait is a piece created during my favorite state of mind—the "automatic" state. I didn't sit down with a concept or a blueprint. Instead, the idea appeared in my mind as a finished image, and my job was simply to "copy" it from my imagination into the physical world of iron.

At the time of its creation, I wasn't a father. I wasn't even thinking about starting a family in the near future. Yet, as the metal took shape, the composition formed itself into a clear, symbolic group. I found myself arranging my signature abstract "flowers" into a cluster that felt undeniably like a portrait of a household. I titled it Family Portrait, though I didn't yet know whose family it was meant to be.

When I brought the sculpture home, my partner—with whom I now share a daughter—fell in love with it immediately. She insisted we hang it on our wall, where it remains to this day.

The Echo of the Future: Looking back now, I see a profound connection between my art and the reality of my life. It is as if the future was speaking to me through the hammer and the anvil before I was ready to hear it. Today, we live together as a family, and that sculpture, created long before our daughter was even a thought, feels like it was forged specifically for the life we have now.

It serves as a reminder to me that my work isn't just about decoration; it is a conversation with the future. Sometimes we create what we are destined to become.
