### Institutional Scale Without Application Fees
Finding international open calls with legitimate museum-level prestige that do not charge entry fees is rare. Most international competitions charge €30 to €75 per work.
NordArt 2027 is an exception. Hosted annually by Kunstwerk Carlshütte in Büdelsdorf, Germany, it is one of the largest juried exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe. It welcomes visual artists worldwide with no entry fees whatsoever.

### The Steel Canvas Curatorial Note
The physical context of Kunstwerk Carlshütte dictates how the jury reviews digital portfolios:
1. Industrial Scale vs. Delicate Work: The interior is an expansive 19th-century industrial foundry featuring weathered red brick, exposed steel framework, and monumental ceiling heights. Delicate, small, decorative works get visually overwhelmed in this space. The jury prioritizes work with strong architectural presence, raw materiality (oxidized metals, unprimed canvas, timber, concrete, stone), and sculptural volume.
2. Image Selection (Up to 10 Works): Do not upload 10 variations of the same piece. Provide a coherent body of work showing your physical mastery of materials. Crucially, include at least one photo showing installation context, wall projection, or human scale so the selection committee can visualize how the piece commands an industrial hall.
3. Residency / Site-Specific Projects: If your work requires building directly on-site, NordArt offers an Artist in Residence program where artists fabricate and construct works during April and May 2027 in their dedicated studios. If applying for this track, include a precise project description, material breakdown, and construction timeline.
