Story behind the artwork

This piece was created during a very intense and active period of my life. I was exhibiting my work frequently, putting myself out there in every way I could. Yet, despite that activity, I wasn’t finding "success" in the traditional sense—the big sales or the wide recognition weren't there.

It was a crossroads. I reached a point where I had to ask myself: If no one appreciates this, if no one buys it, and if it never becomes my "career," will I still do it? For a moment, I considered turning away from the art entirely to focus solely on the practical, reliable trade of blacksmithing that pays the bills. But as I sat with that thought, I realized that I don't create for the spectators. I create because I have to. Passion is my declaration that when you are truly ignited by a purpose, you don't need the world to cheer for you to keep moving. I decided then that the "success" is in the making, and any financial reward is simply a bonus.

The Hidden Reflection: The construction of this piece is a physical metaphor for that internal breakthrough. It features a heavy 3mm iron plate that has been forced open from the center, as if something powerful was determined to burst through from the inside.

If you look into the rift—though it is difficult to capture in a photograph—you will find a sheet of highly polished stainless steel. When you peer into the break, you see your own reflection. It is a reminder that the strength to break through the "iron" barriers of life—the doubts, the lack of recognition, the obstacles—comes from within you. You are the force that cannot be stopped, as long as you are true to your own path.

The stories behind my artwork, the opportunities in The Lighthouse, and the reflections of the Morning Muse are my ways of keeping the lamp lit for our creative community. These resources will always be free to access. If they have found you at the right time, consider fueling the forge to help keep the fire burning. Your support, in any amount, is deeply appreciated.
