Story behind the artwork

The Sequel to the Wind "Art in a garden is never finished; it evolves. After installing The Wind for a client I’ve collaborated with for over a decade, she returned with a new seed of an idea. She wanted a companion piece—something that spoke of beginnings. We called it Seeds."

The Concept: The Expanding Sphere "I wanted to capture the literal tension of a germinating seed. I decided to create spherical forms of varying sizes using wide steel plates. I used the same width of plate for every sphere, which created a fascinating visual effect:

In the small spheres, the plates are tightly packed, nearly solid—like a seed dormant and closed.

As the spheres get larger, the space between the plates expands. It looks as if the iron is stretching, cracking open, and breathing as it grows. The larger the sculpture, the more it 'blooms' into the light."

The Forge of Two Minds "The most fascinating part of my work isn't the hammer or the fire; it’s the connection. When I work with a long-term client, I feel a rare phenomenon—as if I am stepping into their mind. For a moment, it feels like we share one brain, seeing the final sculpture through the same eyes.

Of course, no two people ever see the exact same thing, but the effort to look through their perspective is what fuels my creativity. It doesn't always result in a perfect mirror of their thought, but when it does, it is pure magic. Seeds is the physical result of that mental bridge."

The stories behind my artwork, the opportunities in The Lighthouse, and the reflections of the Morning Muse are my ways of keeping the lamp lit for our creative community. These resources will always be free to access. If they have found you at the right time, consider fueling the forge to help keep the fire burning. Your support, in any amount, is deeply appreciated.
