THE LIGHTHOUSE
⚒️ The Showcase: The International Stone & Monumental Sculpture Symposium (Luxembourg)
Category: The Showcase / International Monumental Sculpture & Public Installation
The Opportunity: Organized by the International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events (AIESM), this prestigious European symposium is issuing a call for international sculptors to design major public installations.
The 2026 Theme: "Roots"—exploring heritage, structural anchoring, and connection to the earth.
The "Lighthouse" Advantage: They do not want fragile gallery objects. This symposium is strictly dedicated to massive, permanent public works that will be integrated directly into public spaces and parklands. For a sculptor-blacksmith who understands heavy forging, structural anchoring, and blending steel or iron with stone, this is a master-level canvas.
The Benefit: Fully funded. The organization provides all raw materials, heavy machinery, full technical assistance, meals, and accommodation for international artists. Additionally, each selected artist receives a direct €3,000 honorarium.
Maker Level: Intermediate to Professional (Must demonstrate experience working on large-scale physical structures).
Deadline: Friday 5th June 2026.
The "Gate-Crasher" Status:
The Portal: The submission portal and technical prospectus are hosted through aiesm.com.
The "Fail-Safe" Key: Because this is managed by an international association of monument builders, the jury prioritizes logistics and feasibility just as much as the artistic concept. They need to know your work won't degrade or become a public safety hazard.
Direct Action: Bypass standard web applications by emailing the central presidency directly.
Direct Contact: press@aiesm.com (Attn: Bettino Francini, World Presidency).
The Pitch: "I am a UK-based sculptor-blacksmith specializing in high-durability, site-specific installations. I am preparing an entry for the Luxembourg 'Roots' Symposium. Because my work utilizes forged metal components designed to integrate tightly with raw stone, I can ensure the structural integrity of a permanent outdoor monument that stands up to weather and public interaction."
The stories behind my artwork, the opportunities in The Lighthouse, and the reflections of the Morning Muse are my ways of keeping the lamp lit for our creative community. These resources will always be free to access. If they have found you at the right time, consider fueling the forge to help keep the fire burning. Your support, in any amount, is deeply appreciated.
