Story behind the artwork

The Challenge: Breaking the Stagnation "A long-time client came to me with a problem that had troubled him for years. His garden pond was beautiful, but the water was stagnant. He needed a fountain to breathe life and movement into the surface. Many had proposed ideas before me, but for years, he couldn't find a design that resonated with his vision. He wanted a functional tool that doubled as a high-end sculptural centerpiece."

The Concept: Botanical Fantasy "I had never built a fountain before, but I wasn't intimidated by the mechanics. My focus was on the soul of the piece. I decided to move away from reality and looked into my own imagination. I drew inspiration from my previous work, Flower—creating a species of plant that doesn't exist on this planet. It is an organic, fantasy form where the water doesn't just fall; it erupts from the stems of these alien blossoms."

The Material: Defying Time "Because this sculpture is in constant contact with water, I chose stainless steel. While I often love the character of rust, this project demanded eternal brilliance and structural integrity. I wanted the 'flowers' to look as fresh ten years from now as they did on the day of installation."

The Result: A Lasting Legacy "Every time I visit this client for a new project, we walk down to the pond. Years later, the fountain is still dancing, and the water is clear. For me, it isn’t a surprise that my first fountain works perfectly—it's simply the result of treating the engineering with the same respect as the art. It stands as a reminder that when you can't find the right answer in nature, you have to look into your own soul to forge it."
